Legislative Assembly
Right now, there are many issues where I have an open mind, but I want to listen to people and in return I bring a practical local government perspective to the election.
The ACT, with 340,000 people, is only slightly bigger than the City of Blacktown and also has many of the needs of a municipality rather than a state.
We elect 17 members and nearly half of them are shut out of the decision making process. This Government/Opposition mode of operation is not always appropriate for our needs.
When running a city the size of Canberra, there is no room for factionalism, petty divisions and “party lines” on the issues being considered. We have to make decisions on what is best for Canberra.
Canberra is part of a region and what happens in that region affects what happens in Canberra, just as what happens in Canberra affects the region.
As an independent member, I will make sure the views of all parties are listened to, considered carefully and become a real part of any decisions made.
